Animated Cat Projections

Collection of small, limited animations of a tiny animated cat inhabiting a room and its nooks.

In The Box series, the cat, a very small one, inhabits and explores specific objects through projection mapping.

This project has a direct link to my past work, “Cats Make You Want to Stay In”, specifically to the unexpected scale change I had to deal with at the last minute. In these clips, the size of the cat plays a key role in the projection, it is an intentional decision in both form and concept.

This is a work in progress and I plan to keep exploring and building on top of it.

They make a detailed projection mapped pop-up book that  comes to life with video animations and a play with light and shadows.

A cat inhabiting a changing 2D space along with the viewer.
While the project was planned for a 1:1 projection, I scaled it down to fit inside a cardboard box.

The small projector was lent to me by the university for a week. 
I am looking forward to more experiments with one of these hand-held little marvels.
